Oskar, a little blind cat, wins... an Oscar (Video)!
A few days ago, the first-ever awards ceremony was held in Los Angeles and was entirely dedicated to cat videos . Real Oscars, initiated by the brand Friskies, which we talked about a few weeks ago.
The choice was probably not easy for the jury that had to separate the hundreds and hundreds of videos in competition. But it's a little cat like no other , called Oskar, who finally won first prize: the best cat video .
A blind kitten does melt the jury
The animal has been blind since birth. He is indeed born with a malformation of the eyes. And the video thanks to which his master won 15,000 dollars , in addition to a superb Catuette (a statuette in the shape of a cat), was put on line on Youtube more than a year ago Already, in October 2011.
Watched over 4 million times, she shows Oskar having fun with his first toys , the day after his adoption.
Encouraging the adoption of animals like Oskar
Mick Szydlowski, the author of the video, said he hoped his victory would encourage people to adopt animals like Oskar. " In a good environment, animals with special needs can thrive ," he said in his thank you speech.
In addition to celebrating the cutest and funniest cats in the world, The 2012 Friskies Awards have also enabled to offer some 250,000 boxes of cat food to 25 associations located in the 4 corners of the United States.
After the success of this first edition, no one doubt that a second ceremony rewarding the best videos of our irresistible feline companions will be organized in 2013!
