Being a dog and living in a kennel is not something simple. Also, to improve the living conditions of its residents, a shelter in Oregon (United States) has decided to turn its cages into cottages.

Anguish, sadness and fear are all feelings experienced by abandoned dogs and this, despite the tremendous work done by the volunteers. In order to alleviate their heavy stress, Liesl Wilhards - responsible for the Luvable Dog Rescue - had a brilliant idea: to remove the cages from his refuge for the benefit of small charming cottages. A way like any other to bring a little warmth to its protégés.

Each house is carefully decorated and maintained, and has its own outdoor area. It must be said that the area on which the kennel was built extends over several hundred hectares...

A concept that simplifies adoption

Dogs have enough space to let off steam and have advantage of being more relaxed in this type of environment since they feel "at home". This organization also allows them to socialize much more and spend quality time with the volunteers and employees who walk and play with them.

"Our dogs spend many hours each day with us. team that enriches their lives and allows us to know them better in order to place them in the families most compatible with them ", explains indeed the head of the shelter on Facebook.

In the goal of making his refuge ever more optimal for his residents, Liesl Wilhards is now planning to build a building for pregnant bitches or to give birth to ensure maximum serenity...
