Acclimatization of the kitten

The kitten who arrives at the house will be disoriented by this new environment, frightened by the absence of his mother and his brothers and, finally, lost because of the upheaval of his habits. To welcome a kitten therefore requires time and love

It will take patience, calm and tenderness to make it serene and relaxed.

No need to go too fast it would be even dangerous to force him to accept the caresses and cuddles by force.

The less timid will approach their new human "friend" after a few minutes and, reassured by his warm hands, will thank him for his attentions.

Our kitty, purebred or frightened orphan found in the street, must find in his new home a basket with a beautiful cushion, ready to become his niche. In fact, after having inspected the house, it is very likely that he prefers to choose an armchair, the bed or any other cocoon of his choice.

We must also offer him adapted toys, created for him: rolling balls, little plastic mice and the timeless ball of wool. It is imperative that he has a small plank of soft wood, where he can "make his claws."

Educate the cat by arming itself with patience

It is not easy to teach an education to a cat: in fact, he is not willing by nature to submit completely to his master and does not recognize him as a pack leader, as a dog can do.

When the little kitten has gained confidence in the new world around him, he will look for a way to pass the time and everything will become pretext to play .

Yes, even the precious Chinese vase or the old clock inherited from the great-grandfather, not to mention the engaging aspect of the curtains and sofas perfect for "clawing" or climbing.

C ' It is up to the master to forbid it to happen, without terrorizing his new friend. It must prohibit access to "at risk" , at least when it is not monitored; it is necessary to scold it firmly, but without shouting or gesticulating excessively when it is caught in the act

To obtain good results, requires patience and a spirit of observation .

The important thing is not to be discouraged at the first failure, not to be conditioned by his own mood and always use the same method not to confuse "the student". It is essential to study one's character and, depending on the temperament of the kitty, to be more severe or more tolerant, to scold or encourage.

Do not forget either that the cat is an animal with sharp intelligence , with a sharp mind and excellent memory. Even if these qualities were initially refined by the felines to ensure their survival, they can now use them to get a very good relationship with their friend (not their master) man

Instinctive cleanliness of the cat

Apart from very rare cases, all cats know how to use a box filled with pellets to do their needs . In the wild, the faeces are buried so as not to leave traces: the cats thus instinctively seek a quiet place where to make a hole and then cover their excrement.

This occurs, including for kittens, from their youngest age and, more specifically, as soon as their diet changes from milk to solid and it is no longer their mother who takes care of their cleanliness and that of their basket.

Even adult cats who have always lived in Freedom immediately learn to use the litter box and all cats, in exchange, require that it be perfectly clean and that the litter is dry, otherwise they will soil on the ground, trying to dig in the soil or in the pots of the plants

It is necessary to educate its small ball of hairs as soon as possible , avoiding to let it take bad habits which, if they seem tolerable to us when it is kitten, will become boring as an adult.

Although many breeds retain some primitive instincts intact, it is not impossible to instill new habits in the cat, including learning from the youngest age respect preferred prey, such as mice and birds

Of course, it is better not to allow "close" contact, but it is not difficult to get respectful cohabitation .
